What does 'Living Art' mean to you?
We can interpret 'Living Art' as living life to the fullest and experiencing the unknown. Exploring all avenues, executing work with integrity, being in the moment, fighting for your rights, enriching other people's lives, social and political activism interpretation, all creatively driven. - Mark
How do fashion and art intersect?
There is no boundary between fashion and art. I do not ask myself the big 'what is art?' question. Creative expression of any capacity can qualify as art. I do question the word 'fashion' if it only means mere garment trends. My approach to fashion is as creative expression of what you put on yourself. - Wakako

We appreciate both timeless good design, and Vans life after the shop floor. - Wakako
How do you envision people wearing these prints and taking them out into the world?
With "joie de vivre". -Mark
What was the inspiration for the prints you did with Vans?
Our inspiration came from the idea of graphic patterns co-existing with human daily life, manifesting in a patterned tribe's urban playground. Road markings, tribal-what is around us and just mix them all up. - Wakako
What do you think is the best way to wear prints?
All over and more. - Mark

The best way to wear prints? Always with love. - Wakako
Vans x Eley Kishimoto Shop in their own words:

'Flash' has become our icon. It is from our Spring / Summer 2001 fashion collection "Reunion," and it was an experiment to extract it from the fashion system and play with its longevity.

'Magnolia Hysteria' is an Eley Kishimoto archive print-an energetic magnolia flower dissected into its core geometric shape and form.

'Drums' celebrates Vans Checkerboard trademark, deconstructing it and pairing it with tribal motifs.

'Whopping Waffle' is an interpretation of the classic Vans waffle sole we all recognize.

'Bumpy Road' plays with the Old Skool sidestripe to create an abstract urban playground.
